Standing in the HOF
Hall of Fame induction ceremonies (like the one this weekend) might be the pinnacle of basketball Enjoymentā itās all about lifting each other up and celebrating the incredible careers of some of the leagueās best. Letās run through some of the highlights from this weekend.
Half Man, Half Amazing!
Everyone present at Sundayās ceremony should consider themselves lucky they didnāt get put on a poster. Vince Carter will go down as arguably the greatest dunker the league has ever seen (just ask just ask Frederic Weis), but his incredible overall game is the reason heās in the HOF. Vinsanity was a career bucket, averaging nearly 17 PPG over a record 22 seasons, including 27.6 in 2001. Carter is stamped for life!
"From now on, they don't just say you're first and last name without saying... 'Hall of Famer.'"

Triple Platinum
Most athletes dream of making the Hall of Fame one time. Twice is an incredibly rare feat. But three times? Thatās an honor that belongs only to the Logo.
Jerry West was enshrined into the HOF for the third time this weekend, with his most recent honor coming for his work as an executive. West won eight NBA championships as a decision-maker for the Lakersā and Warriorsā dynastiesāhe also worked for the Grizzlies and Clippers along the way. The definition of a legend!

Champ Chauncey
You need a clutch stop? Chauncey. You need a big shot? Chauncey. You need a Hall of Famer? Chauncey.
2004 Finals MVP and Detroit legend Chauncey Billups also got his flowers this weekend, culminating a career defined by āshowing up when it mattered mostā. The Pistonsā legendary ā04 title run wouldnāt have been possible without their top dawg, who set the tone on both ends and always shone in the bright lights. Congratulations, Chauncey!

Donteās Inferno
Thereās never a dull moment in the NBA, and that extends to the preseason, where revenge games occur mere weeks after the trades that set them up. In his first game back at MSG since being traded from the Knicks, Donte DiVincenzo put together a solid performance against his old squad, scoring 15 PTS and dishing 7 AST in a narrow loss.
But the gameās real story came after the game, when DiVincenzo exchanged words with Rick Brunson, a Knicks assistant coach and Jalen Brunson's dad. There seemed to be no love lost between the pair, with Jalen and others stepping between them after a seemingly heated exchange. Donte and Jalen go all the way back to their college days at Villanova, so whoās to say what fueled this apparent beef!

Record Retrospective
Does the name Elmore Smith ring a bell to you? If not, get ready to learn about one of the leagueās most legendary defensive performances ever.
After being drafted third-overall by the Buffalo Braves in the 1971 NBA Draft, Smith became a walking double-double before being traded to the Lakers in 1973. There, he started pulling out triple-doubles, but not the kind youāre familiar with.
Over the course of four straight games in the 1973, Smith recorded a total of 55 blocks, topping double digits in each game. But the ultimate highlight came on October 28, when Smith rewrote the record books with 11 blocks in a half and 17 total in the game, both records that still stand today. While itās worth noting that this was the first season blocks were officially recorded, Smithās average of 4.9 per game that year led the league and still stands as the third highest single-season BPG ever.
