Weekend Wrap-Up

LaMelo beats Lonzo in Ball Bros. battle as Hornets down Bulls 125-123

It’s been a big couple of weeks in the Ball family. Gelo swerved and bent corners all the way to the NFL playoffs, and Lonzo and LaMelo faced off in a clash that would make any 2016 Chino Hills fan smile.

In a Friday night duel between the Bulls and Hornets, Charlotte downed Chicago behind 26 PTS and 9 AST from the youngest ball brother, LaMelo. For the Bulls, Nikola Vucevic poured in 40 PTS and 13 REB while big brother Lonzo added 6 PTS, 3 AST and 3 STL as he continues his injury recovery. Gelo, fresh off his hot new single, was also in the house to see his brothers face off, proving that LaVar’s plan to see all his boys balling out has come to fruition… one way or another.

From reality TV to NBA stardom, the Balls are made for the spotlight. 😎

Clippers beat Lakers 116-102 in wake of LA wildfires

In certain moments, the sports world finds itself united under a single cause. Sunday was one of those nights.

As the Lakers made their first visit to the Clippers’ new Intuit Dome, it came with an additional layer of significance—it was the teams’ first meeting since the wildfires that affected much of Los Angeles this month. Though the Clippers came out on top of the scoring, thanks to 22 PTS from Norman Powell and 21 PTS and 11 AST from James Harden, it was truly a win for the entire LA community, who got to return to some sense of normalcy after the disasters affecting their city. These moments are always the most Enjoyable! ❤️

Elsewhere around the NBA…

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks are fully back from their early-season slump. After starting the year 2-8, the Bucks are now in 4th place in the East and just two games behind the third-place Knicks. The most recent part of the climb came in a 123-109 Sunday night win over Philly, when the Greek Freak scored 34 PTS on 76% shooting to out-duel Tyrese Maxey’s 37 PTS.

  • If you haven’t been looking at Atlanta this season, there’s probably a Trae Young dime headed right for you. The Atlanta star’s 28 PTS and 11 AST on Saturday helped fuel his league-leading 11.8 APG, which would be the most from any player since 1995-96. It also helped the Hawks down the reigning champ Celtics 119-115 in OT—watch out for ATL!

  • Poole Party in San Francisco on Saturday! Jordan Poole balled out with 38 PTS and eight threes against his former team, but the Warriors ultimately defended home court with a 122-114 W thanks to a season-high 31 PTS from Andrew Wiggins. The Dubs have slowed down since their hot start, but this win helps keep them in the mix of a razor-tight race for the bottom four seeds in the West, as five teams sit within 1.5 games of each other.

Stock Market 📈

In this week’s edition of the Enjoy Stock Market, let’s take a look at who’s on the rise in fantasy hoops!

  1. Nick Richards: Waiver wire pickup 📈 (40% rostered)

After being dealt from Charlotte to Phoenix, Richards has instant value in fantasy with a chance to expand into an even greater role in the coming weeks. He’s an efficient scorer and a tenacious rebounder, as evidenced by his 21 PTS and 11 REB in his first game with the Suns. Scoop him up!

🏀 🏀 🏀

  1. Cole Anthony: Stream target 📈 (31% rostered)

With unfortunate injuries to Jalen Suggs and Franz Wagner, Anthony will fill a significant place in Orlando’s offense behind star Paolo Banchero. Anthony has already been good for around 13 PPG, 4 APG, and 4 RPG this season, but don’t be surprised to see those numbers rise in the coming weeks.

  1. Frequent Flyers 📈

By nature of the NBA’s regular season format, some teams play more frequently in a given week than others. That matters in fantasy, where opportunity is often the gateway to victory. The following teams are playing four games in the week ahead: the Cavaliers, Celtics, Clippers, Grizzlies, Hawks, Hornets, Mavericks, Trail Blazers, Pelicans, and Warriors. If you need a quick addition, look to these squads!
