Game Recaps
Bam Adebayo explodes for 83 Points, making NBA history in Heat’s 150-129 win over the Wizards
Whatever Bam Adebayo had for breakfast this morning, he should have that every single morning for the rest of his career.
On a night where no one saw it coming, Bam just put together the second greatest scoring performance in NBA HISTORY. Let’s break it down. ⬇️
He finished with 30 after the first quarter alone, had 43 at halftime, and ended the game with 83 points. Just an absolutely historical performance from the All-Star Center, playing for a Heat team that is hitting their stride at the perfect time, with Tuesday night being their fifth straight win!
The final line: 83 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 20/43 FG, 36/43 FT. 😳
It’s impossible to overstate the company Bam put himself in on Tuesday with this record-breaking performance. Not only did he shatter LeBron James’ Heat franchise record of 61 points, he surpassed a handful of all-time greats for most points scored in a single game, most notably Kobe Bryant’s 81 point game from 2006. 🙏
For the foreseeable future, it goes Wilt, Bam, Kobe. What a night, and what a performance from Bam Adebayo.
Will we ever see Wilt's 100 point single game record be broken?

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ties Wilt’s 20 point record, hits game winning three as Thunder beat Nuggets 129-126
It’s hard to script a more perfect night for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
In a game where OKC was missing Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams, Isaiah Hartenstein, and Alex Caruso, the top seed in the west needed their MVP in Shai to bring them home against one of their biggest rivals out west.
Safe to say, he brought them home: 🌟
Shai’s game winner capped off an unreal night offensively, as he went for 35 points, notched a career high 15 assists, AND tied Wilt Chamberlain for the most consecutive games scoring 20 points or more. Anytime you’re in the same breath as Wilt, you know you’re doing something right on the basketball court…
The defending champs are now 6-0 since Shai returned, and are picking up steam at the right time. As for the Nuggets, who had four players score 20+ points tonight led by Nikola Jokic (32 PTS, 14 REB, 13 AST) they lose yet another close game vs OKC and continue to slide down the rest standings as they still try to get their full team back healthy.
Will we see a part 2 of a Nuggets-Thunder playoff series in a few months? Time will tell..

Elsewhere around the NBA:
Tuesday night was rightfully dominated by Bam talk, but we also saw a clash between two of the league’s top teams, as the Spurs pulled away from the Celtics late in their 125-116 victory. San Antonio’s winning tear continues, as they’ve now won 15 out of their last 16 games, led by Wemby’s 39 points and 11 rebounds. Jayson Tatum saw his biggest scoring output since his injury return, going for 24 points on 10/24 shooting. Who knows, it’s possible we watched a Finals preview last night… 🤔
The Hawks and Mavs both kept their streaks alive on Tuesday night, though Atlanta may be feeling just a little bit better about theirs. ATL picked up win number seven in a row on Tuesday in their 124-112 win! All-Star Jalen Johnson (27 PTS, 7 REB, 8 AST) and Nickeil Alexander-Walker (29 PTS, 5/8 3PT) took the Hawks home in this one, who are now just 2.5 games back of the six seed in the east. Dallas on the other hand has now lost eight in a row, and were led by 21 points from Klay Thompson off the bench.
Two-Way player Blake Hinson had his movie moment on Monday night, nailing the go-ahead three pointer in the final minute of the game to help the Jazz over the Warriors 119-116. Hinson ended with 12 points on 4/9 from three, and with moments like this, a standard NBA contract could be in his near future. Love to see it!
If you told a Clippers fan back in December when their record was 6-21 that in just three months they would be back at .500, they would definitely have call you crazy. Well, that crazy has now become reality as LA’s 126-118 win over the Knicks on Monday has put them officially back at the .500 mark. A truly remarkable mid-season turnaround that Kawhi Leonard (29 PTS) has been the catalyst for all season long. New Clippers Benedict Mathurin (28 PTS) and Darius Garland (23 PTS, 7 AST) continue to look increasingly comfortable, and LA is looking and playing like a team no top seed would want to play in the first round…

On his 47th birthday, let’s take a look at one of the most overlooked PFs of the 2000s and one of the best Clippers ever- Elton Brand!

Following a highly successful two year career at Duke University, Elton Brand turned himself into the number one overall pick in the 1999 draft by the Bulls. His dominance in college quickly translated to the pros, as he effortlessly walked into a 20 and 10 season as rookie. He shared the 1999-00 Rookie of the year award with Steve Francis, and it felt like Chicago found their next star in a post Michael Jordan world….
The Bulls had their guy….for all of two seasons. Brand was traded to the Clippers in a shocking draft day deal for Tyson Chandler in 2001, and suddenly, the number one pick from just two years prior was already on his next team.
EB continued to evolve as a player with the Clips, earning his first All-Star appearance in his very first season there in 2001-02 (18.2 PTS, 11.6 REB, 2.4 BLK). In his seven seasons as a Clipper, he was a walking double-double, finishing with 18+ points and 10+ rebounds in five of his seven years there, with his peak season coming in 2005-06 (24.7 PTS, 10.0 REB, 2.5 BLK).
His greatest individual season coincided with LA’s most successful season as a franchise to date, as Brand got the Clippers just one game within the Western Conference Finals!
Perhaps his most electric performance from that ‘06 playoff run was his game 5 vs the Suns in Phoenix, as he went for a light 33/15/5. Take a look:
Brand moved on from LA and tailed back east for his next chapter in his career, becoming a reliable vet presence for the young 76ers that included Andre Iguodala, Lou Williams, and Jrue Holiday. He provided steady vet leadership while maintaining solid numbers (15.8 PTS, 8.3 REB) and got the young Sixers back into the playoffs. 🙌
Elton Brand bounced around a few more teams before retiring following the 2015-16 season. He enjoyed a lengthy 17-year career and went toe to toe with some of the great bigs of his generation. His legacy may not be remembered as fondly as those other greats, but you knew it was going to be a long night if you had to guard EB in the post…
