Out of Bounds, Vol. 76

Steph Curry and Under Armour have parted ways...

Happy late Thanksgiving! 🦃 We’re thankful for Carmelo Anthony phone booth montages, Kyle Korver heat check clips, and most of all, YOU! 🫵

This community is so special, and we’re so lucky to share the best game in the world with you every week. ❤️

↔️ Steph Curry-Under Armour Split

We never expected to write that headline. Steph Curry and Under Armour Basketball have felt synonymous since the best guard of a generation left Nike in 2013.

“Curry Brand” was created in 2020 as a subsidiary of UA – kinda like Jordan Brand is still Nike but feels like its own thing. And in 2022, Steph signed a lifetime deal, but now the two have split things off. What’s that statistic about divorce?

Remember the Curry 2? Feels like forever ago…

While Curry is still signed to UA through 2026, he’s allowed to wear other stuff—which he has already started doing. So, we're curious where Curry goes from here. Does he sign with a Nike or Adidas, or stay independent?

And... who is left at Under Armour? De’Aaron Fox is the best NBA player still signed to the UA, but Kelsey Plum may be their most recognizable hooper.

Joel Embiid was with the company until 2024, but like your younger cousin in search of light-up shoes, the MVP opted for Sketchers 💀

❤️ Tre Jones Community Assist

Tre Jones is not only the assist-to-turnover ratio king (any other stats nerds out there?). He's assisting off the court as well!

The Bulls point guard was named the NBA Cares Bob Lanier Community Assist Award winner for October after helping raise over $1 million for cancer research and awareness 🙏

Jones’ commitment is personal. His mother, Debbie, is a breast cancer survivor, and the Jimmy V Foundation recently announced a research grant in her honor aimed at improving immunotherapy options for cancer patients ❤️  In recognition of Jones’ efforts, the NBA and NBPA are donating 💰 $20,000 to the Jimmy V Foundation.

But Jones’ community impact hasn’t stopped there 👀

He teamed up with Brotherhood Rising, an organization focused on building safe, supportive environments for young men. Jones even plans to host those who complete the group’s six-week program at an upcoming Bulls game. Talk about some extra motivation 🤯

He also made time to visit a Chicago small business, meet its founders, and learn firsthand about their mission 💪

Beyond the local work, Jones continues to advocate for increased investment to help communities rebuild from extreme weather events intensified by climate change. What a guy! 👏

🔥 DBook Brings the HEAT With New PEs

The Phoenix Suns have been hotter than the Arizona desert to start the NBA season, and their star player Devin Booker has brought the HEAT on his feet.

DBook has always been a stylish guy, from his house to his car collection, and we especially love two pairs of kicks he rolled out in the past two weeks.

Here are the Book 1 Converse Chuck Taylor PEs. What a dope way to use the Converse brand (which Nike owns) in his own sneaker line. NBA players like Doctor J and Larry Bird were hooping in Converse until the late 1970s (RIP to their ankles 😭), but Devin Booker brought back the style with modern-day performance.

Booker also wore the Nike Book 2 “Rising” colorway, which won’t hit stores until January 2nd. At first look, they look absolutely FIRE 🔥
