Paige Bueckers drops 44, sets rookie scoring record in 81-80 Wings loss to Plum’s Sparks

On a night when two guards went bucket for bucket, Paige Bueckers officially announced herself to the league… if she hadn’t pretty much done so already.

The rookie erupted for 44 points, setting a new WNBA rookie single-game scoring record and officially cementing herself in league history books. It’s the highest-scoring game this season and ties for the 10th-highest-scoring game in WNBA history next to names like Diana Taurasi and Cynthia Cooper—that’s not bad company. āļø

Though her Wings ultimately fell 81-80 to the Los Angeles Sparks, Bueckers’ performance was electric from the opening tip, as she sank pull-up jumpers and step-back threes that kept hushing the home crowd. She went a perfect 4-4 from distance and ended as a +12 despite the loss. Speaking of the loss, it was Rickea Jackson (25 PTS) and Kelsey Plum (20 PTS) who countered Bueckers with everything they could, finally outlasting Dallas by way of a Plum buzzer-beating bank shot just as time expired.

Even in defeat, Bueckers’ history-making night reinforced what Dallas fans already knew about their franchise cornerstone. For the rest of the W, Thursday morning’s film session came with a warning: no scouting report can fully prepare you for Paige Bueckers.

Westbrook linked to Sacramento, New York as start of 2025-26 regular season looms

With two months until Opening Day, a certain notable free agent is still waiting to hear where he’ll play this year.

After his meaningful contributions off the bench for the Nuggets last year, Russell Westbrook is one of the last major holdouts of the 2025 offseason. Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer reported this week that the Kings are Westbrook’s only remaining legitimate option for next season, adding that Sacramento might be in line to make other moves involving Malik Monk before bringing Russ in.

Meanwhile, Westbrook → New York has been rumored since the nine-time All-Star first hit the trade market in Oklahoma City. There’s still an opening on the Knicks’ roster for a veteran minimum deal, and watching Russ cook off the bench in the Big Apple would surely be a sight to see.

Where do you think Russell Westbrook will play in 2025-26?

BIG3 Championship Preview

The BIG3 is literally BIG, and we’re not just talking about Michael Beasley's stat line.

You know we Enjoy Basketball—that’s why this Sunday, we’ll be tuning into the BIG3 Championship. The new league has been popping off this season, and people are dialed in for the title-taking showdown between the Chicago Triplets and the Miami 305. šŸ”„

Let’s meet the teams!

Chicago Triplets: The Triplets—coached by NBA legend Julius Erving AKA Dr. J—are led by nine-year NBA veteran Montrezl Harrell and Nasir Core, a 28-year-old guard who played four years for the Florida A&M Rattlers. The Triplets won the 2019 BIG3 Championship and are looking for their first return to the promised land since then.

Miami 305: NBA icons Michael Beasley and Lance Stephenson lead Miami’s squad, which also includes veterans like Mario Chalmers and Reggie Evans. The 305 is a new expansion team this year, but they’re benefitting from the guidance of head coach/1987 NBA DPOY Michael Cooper, who had a Hall of Fame career for the Showtime Lakers.

Trezz’s fit game this year has been pretty strong as well—too bad there’s no Best Dressed award. And if the on-court smoke isn't enough, this Beasley/Symba debate is pretty iconic!
