Game Recaps

Tyrese Haliburtonā€™s big night propels Pacers over Heat 128-115

Thereā€™s been a lot said about Tyrese Haliburtonā€™s performance this year, with some doubting that heā€™ll be able to live up to his consecutive All-Star appearances in ā€˜23 and ā€˜24 this season. Reseā€™s game last night proves that he still has it in him.

Tyrese dropped 33 PTS, including six threes, to go along with his 15 AST in an incredible playmaking effort against Miami. Pascal Siakam (18 PTS, 11 REB) also contributed for Indy, but this one was Hali, Hali, Hali. And shoutout to Miamiā€™s Kelā€™el Ware, who recorded a career-high 25 points for the Heat.

Also, speaking of Miami? Jimmy Butler is officially out, per Shams. This should get interesting!

KATā€™s 30-20 game leads Knicks to ninth-straight 119-103 W over Jazz

If you were curious why KAT currently sits at third among Eastern Conference forwards in All-Star voting this year (more on that later) or why heā€™s garnering significant MVP buzz, games like these should make it pretty clear. With help from fellow new Knick Mikal Bridges (27 PTS), KAT led New York to a huge win over Collin Sexton (25 PTS), Jordan Clarkson (25 PTS), and company at MSG.

And, come on. 15 PTS, 14 REB, and 12 AST from Josh Hart? This man is a MACHINE!

Elsewhere around the NBAā€¦

  • Golden State beat Philly 139-105 thanks to a perfect 8-8 night from three by Steph Curry (30 PTS, 10 AST) and six other Warriors in double figures!

  • The Western Conference is OKCā€™s to lose. The Thunder continued their dominant win streak with a 116-98 win over Los Angeles, as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander dropped 29 on his old team.

  • A beautifully vintage LeBron performance (38 PTS, 8 AST) led the Lakers over Portland 114-106 late last nightā€”Max Christie (28 PTS) also lit up the scoreboard for LA.

  • Jaden Ivey (22 PTS) led the Pistons over Orlando 105-96, but he had to leave the game after suffering a scary fibula injury. Prayers up to Jaden and the entire Detroit family for a fast, 100% recovery!

  • After being down by nine late in the 4Q, the Kings ended their game against the 76ers on a 15-0 run to secure a 113-107 W! Deā€™Aaron Fox led the way for SacTown with 35, and Paul George (30 PTS, 8 REB, 5 AST) had one of his best games as a Sixer.

  • A standout performance from Jayson Tatum (33 PTS, 9 AST, 8 REB) last night led the Celtics to a 118-115 comeback win over Julius Randle (27 PTS, 8 REB, 7 AST) and the Timberwolves.

  • 23 PTS, 17 REB, 15 AST. If that isnā€™t a Nikola Jokic statline, then we donā€™t know what is. The Nuggets took down Atlanta 139-120 on Wednesday.

  • Trey Murphy III exploded for 34 PTS, but Tyler Herro (32 PTS) and Bam Adebayo (23 PTS, 10 AST, 9 REB) protected home court and led the Heat to a 119-108 win over New Orleans.

All-Star Voting Update

Itā€™s that time of yearā€”the first fan returns of All-Star voting are here! As of now, according to the fan vote, your 2025 NBA All-Star starters would be as follows: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, LaMelo Ball, Donovan Mitchell, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum, and Karl-Anthony Towns! Check out the full voting returns below:

The first round of fan vote returns has us thinking. Thinking about three things, specifically.

  1. LaMelo Ball has officially arrived.

The highest vote-getting guard in the Eastern Conference. More votes than legends like Steph Curry, Damian Lillard, and James Harden. Averaging over 30 PPG and set to become a two-time All-Star at 23 years old. Weā€™ve known that he can hoop, but LaMelo Ball has officially arrived as a bona fide NBA superstar in fansā€™ eyes.

We canā€™t wait to see more of 2022 All-Star LaMelo.

  1. Anthony Davis is threatening LeBronā€™s All-Star starter streakā€¦

Letā€™s be clearā€”if the voting remains how it stands right now, LeBron James will extend his streak of consecutive All-Star starts to 21. But at just under 200,000 votes above fellow Laker Anthony Davis, the King has a small margin for error.

Who knows! A couple big nights from AD might turn the tidesā€¦

  1. Sengun, J-Dub, and Cade highlight potential first-timers!

We always get excited to see new names in the All-Star game, and we might get a handful this year. Rockets center Alperen Sengun, Thunder forward Jalen Williams, and Pistons guard Cade Cunningham are all in the running to be first-time All-Stars this seasonā€”give it up one time for the youngins!

And shout-out to Norman Powell at #10 among Western Conference guardsā€”a true testament to addition by subtraction, you might say.

Donā€™t agree with these standings? Votes count triple today, so thereā€™s no better time to have your voice heard!
