Game Recaps

Pacers survive 135-132 OT duel, give Boston their first loss of season

The Pacers absolutely dominated the Celtics for most of this game. They led by 24 midway through the third quarter. So how did it end so close? What happened?

Jaylen Brown (25 PTS, 6 REB, 5 AST) and Jayson Tatum (27 PTS, 8 REB) happened, thatā€™s what. JB and JT combined for 23 points in the fourth quarter, the latter tying the game up with a clutch three-pointer with 14 seconds left in regulation. But after some back-and-forth in the extra period, Pascal Siakam (29 PTS, 11 REB, 5 AST) ended things with a clutch three of his own. Life comes at you fast, eh, Boston?

KAT drops 44, Knicks beat Miami by nine

Just four games into his tenure with the New York Knicks, Karl-Anthony Towns (44 PTS, 13 REB) had one of the best games of his NBA career.

The Heat actually stood a chance in this one, leading for the entire second quarter and stretching the margin out to 13 by the middle of the third. However, KAT must have remembered two things: (1) that heā€™s Karl-Anthony Towns and he can score on almost anyone, and (2) how everyone clowned his ā€œimmaturityā€ after his 62-point performance in a Wolves loss against the Hornets last year. So he turned on the jets, shot the ball efficiently (17-25 FG, 4-5 3PT, 6-6 FT), and never looked back. And shout-out to Tyler Herro (37 PTS), who put up a great offensive performance in Miamiā€™s L.

Elsewhere around the NBAā€¦

  • Oh nothing, just another casual 5X5 from the Alien himself, Victor Wembanyama (25 PTS, 9 REB, 7 AST, 5 REB, 5 BLK). Seriously. How insane is this guy?!? The Spurs took down Utah, 106-88.

  • Butā€¦ Chet Holmgren (19 PTS, 5 REB) and the Thunder shut down Wemby (6 PTS, 8 REB) and the Spurs on Wednesday night with a dominating 105-93 win in OKC.

  • Devin Booker (40 PTS, 8 AST) dropped a 40-bomb and the Suns got rid of a 21-point deficit to beat the Clippers 125-119 last night behind him andā€¦ Royce Oā€™Neale! (21 PTS, 7 REB)

  • Despite a lengthy injury report, the Grizzlies took down Giannis (37 PTS, 11 REB) and the Bucks in a 122-99 no-doubter behind Ja Morantā€™s 13th career triple-double (26 PTS, 14 AST, 10 REB). Could change be coming in Milwaukee?

  • Bronny (2 PTS, 2 AST) sunk the first bucket (a midrange jumper) of his NBA career! Unfortunately for him, it came in a blowout Lakers loss by the hands of the Cavaliersā€”most notably Jarrett Allen (20 PTS, 17 REB), Evan Mobley (25 PTS), and Donovan Mitchell (24 PTS).

  • After trailing by eight in the early goings of the fourth quarter, the Blazers came back to beat the Clippers 106-105 on a Deandre Ayton hook shot with a minute and a half to go. Anfernee Simons (25 PTS, 6 AST) led the way for Portland throughout.

  • The Bulls got an impressive 102-99 win over Orlando on Wednesday, but it was soured by Paolo Bancheroā€™s oblique injury. Heā€™ll be re-evaluated in four to six weeksā€”prayers up to Paolo and the Magic! šŸŖ„

Top Five Friday

Okay, so Halloween was yesterday. Big whoop. That doesnā€™t mean we canā€™t use this weekā€™s edition of Top Five Friday to go over 5ļøāƒ£ of our recent favorite NBA Halloween costumes! After all, some of these are just crazyā€¦

1. Pascal Siakam = 50 Cent

Cold. Something about this one just works.

2. Javale McGee = Gandalf

Thereā€™s nothing better than a group costume, and the big centerā€™s Gandalf-esque stature adds a nice touch.

3. LeBron James = Beetlejuice

Does this mean saying ā€œLeBronā€ three times will make him appear and hit you with a chase-down block? We donā€™t wanna be the ones to try it, butā€¦

4. Bradley Beal (and family) = The Flintstones

A realllll throwback. Props to Beal for including the whole family on this!

5. Grant Williams = Batman

We had to end it on a classic. Doesnā€™t this just make sense?
