The odds of winning five games in a row are low. The odds of winning 10 are even lower. But the odds of winning 15 straight games? Slimmer than being struck by lightning. ⚡

OKC completes double-digit comeback to down Boston 105-92, winning 15th straight

Remember all those years when the basketball world was afraid of what the Thunder were building with all those draft picks? Well, it’s here.

Two days after snapping the Knicks’ win streak in a battle of red-hot squads, OKC notched another impressive win to bring their string of victories to a franchise-record 15. This time, it was a comeback win over the defending champion Celtics, one that saw Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continue his stellar play with 33 PTS, 11 REB, and 6 AST.

After trailing by as many as 13 in the first half, OKC put the clamps on after halftime, holding Boston to just 27 points in the second (their fewest in a half since 2012). The Thunder also found success turning defense into offense, earning 17 PTS off turnovers in the second half. That’s just life against the most destructive team in the NBA, as our boy Kenny put it.

Ant’s career-high 53 outdone as Cade, Pistons beat Wolves 119-105

Any time you account for over half your team’s scoring output, you know it was a pretty good day at the office. But on Saturday, Ant’s career-high 53 PTS were not enough to lead his branch to the win.

Instead, it was Detroit protecting their homecourt to the tune of a 119-105 win, led by another sweet performance from Cade Cunningham, whose 40 PTS and 9 AST fueled a Motor City victory. It’s clear that Ant is a bona fide superstar, but Minnesota has sorely missed the contributions of his former costar Karl-Anthony Towns. That said, in a tightly packed Western Conference, the 17-17 Wolves are just three games back from the four seed—anything can happen the rest of the way.

Detroit, on the other hand, is ahead of where many expected them to be this season, thanks in large part to Cade’s emergence (and hopeful All-Star nod). While we’re hoping for a speedy recovery for Jaden Ivey, others have stepped up for the upstart Pistons, including vets like Malik Beasley and Tobias Harris. Oh, and don’t forget Ausar Thompson, who’s capable of stuff like this… ⬇️

Elsewhere around the NBA…

  • In a battle between present and future, Nikola Jokic and Victor-y Wembanyama went to war on Friday and Saturday, with each squad taking a game. Jokic averaged 43.5 PPG, 13.5 RPG, and 9.5 APG over the two contests, while Wemby put up 27.5 PPG, 20.5 RPG, and 3 BPG. Ridiculous stuff from two ridiculous players!

  • CJ McCollum may be in the late stages of his career, but when he gets hot, watch out. On Friday night, CJ turned a matchup between the struggling Wizards and Pelicans into must-see TV, dropping 50 PTS on 10/16 from beyond the arc to lead NOLA to a 132-120 win.

  • Remember the name: Brice Sensabaugh! The Jazz have won consecutive games for just the second time this season, and the second-year stud out of Ohio State has a lot to do with it. After setting a career high with 34 PTS on 12/18 shooting in a win over the Heat on Saturday, Sensabaugh stayed hot with 27 PTS on 5/6 3P in a dub over Orlando, giving him the two highest scoring games of his young career.

  • Speaking of the Heat, it seems like Jimmy Butler’s time in Miami may be coming to a close. After requesting a trade on Thursday, the team suspended Jimmy on Friday for seven games for “multiple instances of conduct detrimental to the team.” Only time will tell how the situation plays out, but if he’s played his last game in a Miami uniform, we’ll be Enjoy-ing those Finals runs for years to come.

Let’s break down the players, teams, and hoops concepts on the rise this week!

📈 Return of the Klaw!

Apologies, opposing offenses: Kawhi Leonard is back! After missing the start of the season with a knee injury from last season’s playoffs, Kawhi returned to action on Saturday, contributing 12 PTS in 19 minutes as the Clips beat Atlanta. He’s on a minutes restriction for the time being, but we’re just happy to see Kawhi back on the court, and we know it won’t be long until he’s back to his full superstar self. (Plus, his return trailer? Must see.)

📈 KAT Attack

Remember earlier when we said Minnesota has missed KAT? That’s because the big man is off to one of his strongest starts ever, currently on pace for a career-high in rebounds (14 RPG, leading the NBA) and his second-highest scoring season (25.3 PPG). Despite a loss to the Bulls on Saturday night, KAT’s 44 PTS and 16 REB were further proof that teams will have their hands full defending in the Mecca.

📈 Win Streaks

Shooters aren’t the only ones who can catch fire at any moment—so can any NBA team in 2025. This season has been one for the streaks, whether it’s OKC’s current 15-gamer, New York’s recently snapped 9-gamer, Cleveland’s 15-gamer to start the season, or the new 10-gamer that Cleveland has going (which, by the way, will be put to the test against OKC on Wednesday.) The fact that these teams have gone this crazy is one thing, but the fact that we’ve gotten to see them play one another is Exhibit A of what makes this game so Enjoyable.
