Woj Announces Retirement
Despite not being a player or even a coach, Adrian Wojnarowski was one of the most iconic parts of todayās NBA landscape.
Starting at Yahoo Sports and continuing on to a legendary career as ESPNās Senior NBA Insider, Woj has been keeping the entire hoops community āin the knowā for the better part of his career. And as the new General Manager of the the St. Bonaventure University men's basketball team, weāre sure heāll maintain his commitment to excellence in all things as he returns to his alma mater.
Rumors are swirling about who ESPN will hire to fill Wojās role, with names like Shams Charania and Chris Haynes leading the pack. But for now, letās honor the man himself by going through some of the most iconic āWoj Bombsā of his career.
The NBA has suspended the season.

Simple, yet powerful. Isnāt it crazy that was more than four years ago?
NBA owners have pushed commissioner David Stern to kill the deal sending Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers, sources tell Y! Sports.

This one comes from all the way back in Wojās career, when as a member of Yahoo Sportsā team he broke the news that then-commissioner David Stern would be vetoing the Clippers-Lakers trade that would have teamed Chris Paul up with Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and then-breakout star Andrew Bynum. No magazine story, no āThe Decisionā, no nothing. When LeBron James went to Los Angeles back in 2018, Woj was the one who told us.
Brooklyn is making a clean sweep tonight: Brooklyn will sign Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan, league sources tell ESPN.

Finally, this one might be the craziest of the bunch. Just over two hours before 2019 Free Agency was set to begin, Woj dropped the news that the Nets had already agreed to sign three of the biggest names of that offseasonās period. Whether or not that worked out for Brooklyn is another story, but who else but Woj would be able to break this one!

VC in the Rafters!
As announced yesterday, the Brooklyn Nets will be retiring Vince Carterās jersey on January 25th, 2025. Over four full seasons for the Nets, Carter made two All-Star Games and averaged 22.9 points per game on 44%/36%/81% efficiency.
But of course, Vinsanity isnāt famous because of his shooting splits. One of the greatest dunkers in NBA history, Carter AKA āAir Canadaā (thanks to his time with the Raptors) routinely wow-ed crowds with his intense, sometimes gravity-defying displays at the rim. Hear it from the man himself!
WNBA Expansion
In case you havenāt noticed, the WNBA is going through a MASSIVE phase of expansion. With a handful of new teams on the way, letās go through the three that have been announced so far and the potential locations of another franchise on the wayā¦ š
Coming in 2025: Golden State Valkyries
WNBA commissioner Cathy Englebert announced that the San Francisco area would be awarded the WNBAās 13th franchise all the way back in October 2023, with their brand identity being revealed earlier this May. The Valkyriesā expansion draft is scheduled for this December, and theyāll start WNBA competition at the beginning of the 2025 season next May!

The WNBA announced that Toronto and Portland would be getting the WNBAās 14th and 15th franchises in May and September of this year, respectively.
There isnāt much information regarding either of these teamsā nicknames or identities, but if their timelines mirror those of the Valkyries, weāre guessing we might hear about Toronto and Portlandās team identities sometime in May or June 2025ā¦

Englebert has publicly announced that the league wants to add one more franchise before the 2026 season, but any details beyond that are still up in the air. She recently mentioned Philadelphia, Nashville, Denver, and the South Florida area as potential suitors for WNBA expansion, but fans are also advocating for the return of now-defunct teams like the Houston Comets or the Detroit Shock.
