2026 NBA Draft Recap
Last night, 30 lifelong dreams came true. 😎
With the next class of future NBA stars officially drafted, let’s take a deep dive on the top five selections in this year’s draft and how they’re going to fit on their new squads:
A.J. Dybantsa- Washington Wizards
The former BYU stud in A.J. Dybantsa was the overwhelming favorite to be the top pick in this year’s draft, and now it’s official. Dybantsa headlines a new era in D.C. basketball, along with Trae Young and Anthony Davis, forming a unique but potentially thrilling big three. His elite downhill scoring ability, versatility on both ends, and physical presence just screams star in the making. Get excited, Wizards fans….it’s a new era!
Darryn Peterson- Utah Jazz
It’s unclear how good the Utah Jazz will be next season, but it IS clear that they are going to be fun. After snagging Kansas’ Darryn Peterson with the second pick, we could see a Keyonte George-Darryn Peterson-Lauri Markkanen-Jaren Jackson Jr-Walker Kessler five man unit take the floor, and all we have to say to that is….my goodness!
Cameron Boozer- Memphis Grizzlies
With the selection of Cam Boozer with the third pick, the Grizzlies may have just locked down one of the best future frontcourt tandems in the entire league with Boozer and Zach Edey. Based on what we saw at Duke, absolutely no one would be surprised if Boozer walked into the league and averaged 20 and 10 as a rookie. Current franchise star Ja Morant’s status with the Grizz may still be up in the air, but as of right now, Memphis has their future looking bright.
Caleb Wilson- Chicago Bulls
With their highest draft pick in years, the Bulls used their fourth overall pick on what feels like a match made in heaven with UNC’s Caleb Wilson. It’s been a while since Chicago has had a franchise cornerstone to build around that has this much potential, and it will be exciting to see if he can help the Bulls finally take the next step. Oh, and shoutout to our main man Kenny for putting this out into the universe weeks ago!
Keaton Wagler- LA Clippers
Rounding out the top five is Illinois’ Keaton Wagler, who officially became the university’s highest draft pick since Deron Williams in 2005…pretty good company to be in if you ask us. Wagler lands in a golden situation with a Clippers team that may still look to win now next season, and is in a position where he can learn the ropes of the guard position from All-Star guard Darius Garland. Will Wagler be the next big star in LA? Only time will tell….
Other notable selections from round one:
#6- Mikel Brown Jr- Brooklyn Nets
#7- Darius Acuff Jr- Sacramento Kings
#8- Kingston Flemings- Atlanta Hawks
#9- Morez Johnson Jr- Dallas Mavericks
#10- Brayden Burries- Milwaukee Bucks
#14- Hannes Steinbach- Charlotte Hornets
#16- Bennett Stritz- Oklahoma City Thunder
#24- Cameron Carr- Los Angeles Lakers
#26- Tarris Reed Jr- San Antonio Spurs
#30- Koa Peat- Phoenix Suns

Around the Association
Bucks, Heat agree to blockbuster trade that sends 2-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo to Miami
The Giannis trade saga is finally over.
After several years of rumors, reports, and speculation surrounding the Greek Freak’s future in Milwaukee, one of the best players in the world has finally found his new home and will begin his next chapter where so many other legends have before, South Beach. 🌴
Take a look at the full trade package here:
According to reports, the three finalists for Giannis came down to Miami, Boston, and Minnesota, and it was the Heat that won the sweepstakes in the end. With this move, a Giannis-Bam Adebayo frontcourt quickly becomes one of the most scary pairings in the entire association, especially defensively, and Miami immediately slides themselves in to the upper-echelon of contenders out east. 🔥
Though Giannis is the headliner, this trade also provides a fresh start for Tyler Herro, who now will have his chance to shine as a number one option playing for his home city in Milwaukee, and will lead the newest era of Bucks basketball:
Now that the deal is done, Giannis Antetokounmpo leaves behind an extraordinary legacy as a Buck. 13 seasons, two MVPs, two DPOYs, and of course, the 2021 NBA title.
What. A. Run.
