All Star weekend is over, which means the WNBA playoff push is officially in full swing.

Let’s just say Sonia Citron is ready.

In the first game back from the All-Star break, it’s common for players to come out of the gate rusty…unless your name is Sonia Citron. 💪

The second year hooper put up an incredibly polished performance in the Mystics’ win over the Sun on Tuesday, getting her squad on the right foot as we head into the back-half of the WNBA season.

Citron went for 22 points on a smooth 6/9 from the field, and 8/9 from the free throw line, cooking Connecticut with a barrage of buckets from everywhere on the court:

Kiki Iriafen (20 PTS, 10 REB) and Shakira Austin (17 PTS) made big contributions in this one as well for a Mystics squad that is fighting for playoff positioning, currently sitting in 8th in the standings.

The Sun were without Britney Griner in the loss, and continue to slide towards the bottom of the league standings. Aneesh Morrow (21 PTS) did drop a new career-high, though it ended in defeat. Connecticut got out to an early lead, but a 25-10 blitz in the third quarter from the Mystics flipped the entire script, and the rest was history.

The playoff push is on for the Mystics, and they have to feel pretty good about their odds with Sonia Citron leading the way. 😎

Nuggets offer RFA Peyton Watson 5yr, $70M deal as Denver explores multiple sign and trade options

Even though the biggest free agent from the 2026 class is off the board, there’s still plenty of quality players still on the board, including Denver F Peyton Watson.

Watson, who had a career-high season in 2025-26 across the board, has still gone unsigned as the Nuggets continue to explore different options with the 24 year old P-Wat, including potential sign and trade scenarios.

The latest update includes an official offer from Denver: 5 years, $70 million. The Nuggets are ideally hoping to re-sign Watson while also getting themselves back under the second apron.

The contract being currently offered would come out to around $14 million per year, and Watson and his camp have to decide which path to prioritize: a more secure, longer term deal for less money annually right now, or coming back on the qualifying offer in hopes to land a bigger payday in the 2027 offseason.

More Denver news! The Nuggets finalized their lead assistant coach hire earlier this week, bringing on former Grizzlies and Kings head coach Dave Joerger.

The Nuggets were adamant on finding a candidate with a ton of head coaching experience, and found their guy to be Head Coach David Adelman’s right hand man. Joerger found much success as the main guy in Memphis, leading the Grizzlies to three playoff appearances in three years, boasting a 147-98 record.

He may be one of the greatest centers in NBA history….but somehow, he’s still severely underrated.

On this week’s edition of Wayback Wednesday, let’s take a deep dive into the Hall of Fame career of Moses Malone! 🔥

After being drafted straight out of high school to the ABA in 1974, a 19 year old Moses Malone put the league full of grown men on notice right away. Malone came out of the gate a walking double-double, finishing his rookie season with averages of 18.8 points and 14.6 rebounds, easily walking away with the 1974-75 Rookie of the Year and was voted an All-Star. Remember, he was only 19 at the time. 😳

Moses joined the NBA in 1976 and picked up right where he left off. As a member of the Houston Rockets, Malone won not one, but two MVPs, in 1979 and 1982 respectfully. His stats during his MVP seasons were straight out of a video game (24.8 PTS, 17.6 REB in ‘79) (31.4 PTS, 14.7 REB in ‘82) and those numbers correlated directly to team success, as he led the Rockets all the way to the NBA finals in 1981.

Following his insane Houston tenure, Malone truly made his mark as a member of the 76ers. In just his first season there in 1982-83, the star-studded combo of Malone and Julius Erving were able to carry Philly to the title, defeating the all-time legendary duo of Magic and Kareem who had just defeated them in the previous finals. Looks like all Philly was missing was an MVP center… 😅

Malone was never able to climb the mountaintop again, but he continued to be an All-Star caliber player for another decade until his retirement in 1995. At the time of his retirement, he ranked #1 in made free throws in NBA history, scored 29,000+ points, snagged 16,000+ rebounds, including the most offensive rebounds in history, and won 3 MVPs and a championship.

Even with these tremendous accomplishments, Moses still gets lost in the best centers ever conversations and remains criminally underrated.
