MAX STRUS IMPOSSIBLE GAME WINNER 🤯

Just…. wow.
With 4 minutes left, this game was essentially over. Kyrie and Luka were cooking to the tune of 75 combined points, and the Mavericks were up 10 with the W in sight. Then, something magical happened.
Maybe he just had a well-balanced pregame meal, or maybe someone flipped the old “don’t miss” switch that all Heat role players get surgically implanted during the playoffs. Whatever it was, Max Strus went absolutely bonkers. Four threes in 72 seconds to claw the Cavs back (along with a couple of big buckets from Spida), and then a miracle heave over Luka to ice it a few minutes later.

Thunder pull away from Rockets late, win 112-95
Even though the Thunder (41-17) ran away with it in the end, Houston and OKC still gave us a really fun national TV clash of Western Conference youth movements. Chet put down a ridiculous reverse-oop and Gordon Hayward got his vet legs up there to finish some lobs as the Rockets struggled to find any momentum outside of Alperen Sengun.

QUEUE THE SONG! 🗣️🔊 The Magic (33-26) are 9-3 in their last 12, and completely put the clamps on the Nets (22-36) to secure a comfortable 27-point dub, 108-81.
Rudy Gobert put the moves on fellow Frenchman Victor Wembanyama, and the Timberwolves (41-17) handled the Spurs (11-48), winning 114-105.
Tyrese Maxey had the Sixers (33-25) hanging around in the second half, but Jayson Tatum took flight (literally) in the fourth to help the Celtics (46-12) pull away for a relatively stress-free 117-99 dub.💪
The Warriors (30-27) pulled up to the nation’s capital and made short work of the Wizards (9-49) thanks to a patented Golden State third-quarter run led by Klay Thompson off the bench.
Bradon Ingram is never beating the ‘smoothest player in the league’ allegations. The Pelicans (35-24) star was burying silky middies all night as New Orleans took down the injury-riddled Knicks (35-24) in MSG, 115-92.
The Blazers (15-42) kept it close against the Heat (33-25) for a while but ran out of gas as Jimmy Butler (22 & 9 AST) stuffed the stat sheet for Miami’s third straight road win.
Are things clicking in the Motor City? Cade and Co. held the Bulls (27-31) to just 2-of-29 shooting from beyond the arc as new addition Simone Fontecchio helped Detroit (9-49) pull away late.
Jalen Johnson simply can’t be stopped— the Most Improved candidate dropped 22-13-6 to lead the Hawks (26-32) to an easy 124-97 W over the Jazz (27-32).
Hornets (15-43) fans… we’ll make this short for your sake. The Bucks won 123-85 as Dame and Giannis enjoyed an early night off.

Pistons/Knicks highlights
Monty Williams was NOT happy after the Pistons controversial 113-111 loss to the Knicks. Donte DiVincenzo used the last minute to try out for the New York Giants safety position…
Congrats on the pizza party, Toronto! Scottie Barnes and the Raptors took down the Pacers, 130-122. Scottie Barnes became just the 19th player in NBA history to record a PTS-REB-AST triple-double with 5+ blocks. I wonder who the last one was…
🧠 Daily Trivia 🧠
Before Scottie Barnes who was the last player with 10+ PTS, 10+ REB, 10+ AST, and 5+ BLK in a single game? This is a tough one... |
Beyond the Box Score
For this week’s edition of Beyond the Box Score, we’ll be venturing into the wide world of international hoops to take a look at some former NBA ballers who you might not have noticed are making things happen abroad. Let’s take a look at 2 players whose global game proves they deserve another chance in the league. 💪
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson: TNT Tropang Giga (Philippines)
Stats: 34.6 PTS, 11.8 REB, 6.6 AST
You might remember Rondae Hollis-Jefferson for holding hands with Draymond Green that one time, or being part of the Nets Hall-of-Fame vibes bench mob, but you’d be SHOCKED to see the type of hooper he is today.
Known for his versatile defense in the NBA, RHJ has completely reinvented his game abroad, becoming an elite #1 option with a buttery mid-range game and a killer mentality. Seriously, the guy was earning Kobe comparisons over the summer at the FIBA World Cup. And that play has only continued in the Philippines, where Hollis-Jefferson put up superstar numbers as he led TNT Tropang Giga to the 2023 Governors Cup.
Mario Hezonja: Real Madrid (Spain)
Stats: 13.0 PTS, 4.4 REB, 48/43/93 splits
For many NBA fans, he’s only known as the guy who blocked LeBron at the buzzer in MSG, but Mario Hezonja has been so much more than that in Spain.
Since leaving the NBA in 2020, the Croatian international has been one of Europe’s deadliest sharpshooters. Over his last two seasons at Real Madrid, Hezonja has been as efficient as they come from deep, shooting nearly 45% on over 4 attempts per game in EuroLeague play, while showcasing the dazzling athleticism that made him such an intriguing prospect.
Considering the one thing that was truly holding Hezonja back in the NBA was his lack of shooting, former fifth overall pick might deserve another chance to show off his game.
