🐯 Who wins March Madness in the battle of the mascots?
The best sporting event in the world is mid-swing right now and our bracket is already busted (so much for having Hofstra as a dark horse). But to continue the bracket-making fun, we wanted to fill one out based exclusively on which mascot would win in a fight to the death 😂
Lots of cougars (Houston, BYU), panthers (High Point, UNI) and wildcats (Arizona, Kentucky) would go far. Some religious people would refuse to fight, like the Siena Saints or UPenn Quakers. Our dark horse would be the Akron Zips, which are a type of kangaroo, as they can literally box on hind legs 🦘🥊

In our head it would be something like this
The biggest upset would be the #16 Howard Bison upsetting the #1 Michigan Wolverine. If this were played in water, #16 LIU Sharks would be cracked 🦈
But our championship game sees the Iowa State Cyclones face off against the Miami Hurricanes, which could sweep any animal off the ground. After some research, we are pretty sure they’re two words for the same exact thing... so we’re officially awarding a shared national title to both mascots 🌀⛈️
Also, in researching this scenario, we finally found out what a Billiken is: literally a made-up creature that an art teacher saw in her dreams in 1908 that has since become the mascot of St. Louis University. That… might be a wildcard here.
Aside from the storms, who would you have coming on top?

🍀 St. Patrick’s Day in the NBA
In honor of St. Patrick’s Day happening last week, let’s discuss the only Irishman to ever play in the NBA. Pat Burke appeared in 127 games between the Orlando Magic and Phoenix Suns in the mid 2000s. The 6’11” forward was born in Dublin but raised in Cleveland since age 4, which kinda makes him the LeBron of Irish people. Check out more here ⬇️
Speaking of the Irish in the NBA, remember those green jerseys the Knicks, Bulls, and Raptors used to rock on St. Patrick’s Day? Everyone has jersey requests for the NBA, but that is near the top of the list for us. We’d kill to watch Jamal Crawford, Jimmy Butler, and Chris Bosh suit up in that kelly green 🍀

👟 The Bam vs Kobe debate, but shoes
So you may not have heard… but Bam Adebayo scored 83 points in a game last week. Props to him for that, and for his subsequent trolling in the media. While he was busy scoring on the Wizards who refused to double team him for 3 quarters, Bam was rocking these Air Jordan “4028” 40 🔥

Looking back to the next-highest scoring game, Kobe rocked these Nike Kobe 1 Proto which is giving such mid 2000s vibes. Getting 81 in these heavy, chunky shoes might be the most valid point in the Kobe vs Bam “ethical scoring” argument 😂
