Team USA men’s basketball wins Gold in Paris with 98-87 win over France

It’s a widely accepted fact that Steph Curry is the greatest shooter of all time. And while we can all Enjoy his incredible talent, Warriors fans have been the only ones lucky enough to watch the Chef cook up for their favorite team (unless you’re a Davidson fan). But on Saturday, an entire nation got to witness Steph’s greatness.

Team USA took down France 98-87 in the gold medal game of this year’s Paris Olympics, giving America its fifth straight gold medal in men’s basketball and stamping the U.S.’s spot on the top of the international basketball leaderboard. If you (somehow) weren’t aware, the Yanks were led by a star-studded roster, including tournament MVP LeBron James and the flame-throwing Kevin Durant, who came off the bench for most of the tournament.

But it was Curry that stole the show in the final two games, dazzling on the global stage with a shooting performance that can only be described as out of this world. After dropping 36 PTS in Team USA’s comeback win over Serbia, Curry was absolutely unconscious in the clutch against France, going 4/4 from three including one of the silliest shots you’ll ever see:

Team USA women’s basketball skates by France 67-66 for eighth straight Gold

For all the dominance that the men’s team has shown in recent decades, the women’s side of Team USA has been an even more formidable force. But on Sunday, the Americans got by France in the women’s Gold medal showdown by no less than an inch.

After Team USA dominated their first five games in Paris leading up to the championship match, it was clear that France wasn’t going down easily with gold on the line. After the teams went into halftime tied at 25, the U.S. did just enough to eke out a win in the late going, including a buzzer-beating shot from France’s Gabby Williams that would’ve sent the game to overtime had it been a three—just a few steps back from its actual location.

Team USA was led by A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart, who took a break from battling it out on the WNBA court to become the most lethal pairing in the world. Wilson was named tournament MVP and led the team with 21 PTS in the title game, while Stewie scored eight on Sunday and 16 against Australia in the semifinal. Diana Taurasi also won her SIXTH gold medal with the victory, making her one of the most decorated Olympians in history!

A major shoutout to France, who put together an incredible summer on both the men’s and women’s sides. We love seeing basketball blossom around the world, and we’re already looking forward to 2028!

What We’re Enjoying

It’s been a hot summer for the horror movie genre, but arguably no film has been better than Tilman Singer’s latest feature Cuckoo. Hunter Schafer gives an incredible performance that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish, and if you’re a fan of great sound design, this is the film for you. Just be sure you don’t have any mountain getaways planned for the near future.
