Indiana bounces back with 121-89 victory to tie Knicks at 2-2

A lot of fans wrote the Pacers off after their Game 2 loss to the Knicks—after all, a 2-0 hole is tough to climb out of. Luckily, none of those doubters wear blue and yellow.

Indiana is back in a big way after defending their home turf with a 111-106 win on Friday and a blowout dub last night. After dropping 35 points in Game 3, Tyrese Haliburton again led Indiana in scoring with a cool 20 PTS, 6 REB, and 5 AST in Game 4. The Knicks were cold as can be in the tying loss, managing just 89 points on 18.9% from three and setting up a pivotal Game 5 back in New York.

Can the Knickerbockers pull off a bounce-back of their own? Or will Indiana keep rolling into the ECF? We can’t wait to find out in Game 5… šŸ‘€

Mavs dominate the clutch, take 2-1 lead over OKC with 105-101 W

Have you ever gotten deja vu? Ever been certain you’d seen something before, but couldn’t quite place it? That’s how we feel watching Kyrie cook in the clutch. The Mavs went up 2-1 on the top-seeded Thunder with a close win on Saturday, highlighted by a ridiculous performance from Kyrie (22 PTS, 7 AST) that included a dagger floater in the final minute. PJ Washington also dropped his second straight gem, pouring in 27 points with 5 threes.

Before the playoffs, many were concerned that the Thunder’s lack of postseason experience would haunt them. And while they have still performed well (SGA is still averaging 29 PPG), their youth shows in these down-to-the-wire matchups.

On the Mavs’ side, Luka Doncic (22 PTS, 15 REB) got banged up again fighting for a loose ball, extending the Slovenian star’s list of bumps and bruises. If Dallas wants to stay alive in this series—and beyond—they’ll need him to play through the pain.

Nuggets tie it up in Minny, Celtics take control against Cavs

After falling behind 2-0 to a red-hot Timberwolves team, Denver reminded us why they’re the defending champs with a 117-90 Game 3 win on Friday and a 115-107 Game 4 victory last night. Their most recent win was highlighed by an incredibly efficient performance from Aaron Gordon (27 PTS, 11-12 FG) and a stellar Nikola Jokic game (35 PTS, 7 AST, 7 REB). The Nuggets have ALL the momentum as the series heads back to Denver for Game 5.

On the other side of the bracket, Boston also bounced back from a Game 2 loss with a double-digit Game 3 victory of their own. The Jays each had 28+ PTS and the Celtics slowed down every Cav not named Donovan Mitchell en route to a 106-93 win and a 2-1 advantage in the series. Boston’s feeling lucky…

Luck of the Draw

In one of the most stunning lottery moves in recent history, the Atlanta Hawks moved all the way up from the second-lowest odds (3%) to the #1 overall pick—the fifth-lowest odds of any lottery winner ever.

There’s no clear consensus, but the NBL’s Alex Sarr seems like the current favorite to go #1. He’s a dawg of a defender, both at the rim and on the perimeter, and is Wemby-esque in his ability to move well despite his 7-foot-frame.

Rounding out the top five are the Wizards, Rockets, Spurs, and Pistons. Detroit fell to fifth despite being tied for the best odds for the top spot… for the second year in a row. Despite the bad beat for the 313, we can’t wait to see the next generation of stars ball out! 🤩

Mid-Playoff Awards

As we near the end of the second round, now is as good of a time as any to give away some unofficial postseason awards! Here are some of the biggest difference makers from this year’s playoffs so far.

MVP: Jalen Brunson

This was a tough call, but the Knicks have relied heavily on their lead guard’s scoring to generate offense, especially in late-game scenarios. JB’s 329 points lead all players in the playoffs, and he recently became the first player since Michael Jordan to drop 40+ in four straight postseason games. Brunson is ELITE!

DPOY: Jaden McDaniels

ā€œThey got Kevin Durant, but we got Jaden McDaniels.ā€ Those words from Anthony Edwards have aged like fine wine, as the young wing’s defensive intensity has become key to the Wolves’ playoff run. Whether it’s Jamal Murray or KD himself, McDaniels’ length and effort have consistently bothered opposing stars in a major way.

COTY: Chris Finch

A ruptured patellar tendon has nothing on Finch, who has Minny’s offense cooking alongside their stellar defense. Ant-Man has been the main mover, but don’t sleep on the contributions of KAT, Naz Reid, and the rest of the Wolves.

6MOTY: Obi Toppin

Ain’t no stoppin’ Toppin! Indiana’s small-ball center has been pivotal in their run this postseason, averaging a cool 12 PPG and dropping double digits in seven of the Pacers’ last eight games. We love to see it for the former Dayton star, especially against his former team. Oh, and he still has BUNNIES too!
