2026 Summer League Action
Darryn Peterson, Jazz outlast Cameron Boozer, Grizzlies in battle of top picks 109-100.
It was a battle of top picks (and unbeaten teams!) in Utah when #2 pick Darryn Peterson’s Jazz took on #3 pick Cam Boozer and the Grizzlies.
Peterson was cooking early, tallying 11 PTS and 2 STL in the first quarter alone. He would finish with 25 PTS and 12 AST on 8-15 from the field. Over his two games in Salt Lake City he averaged 26.5 PTS, 3 REB, and 7 AST on 53% from the field and 44% from three, Utah might’ve gotten a good one here! Jazz fans have evolved from excited to overjoyed to absolutely ravenous. When you see Peterson make shots like this look routine, it’s hard not to agree.
All eyes now turn to Vegas when Peterson will look to continue his dominance against first overall pick AJ Dybantsa on Thursday.
It’s not like Cam Boozer disappointed either. He was lights out going for 18 PTS on 6-9 from the floor (including 4-5 from three!) to go along with 7 REB and 4 AST. He and Peterson play with a similar poise beyond their years. Boozer especially moves remarkably well for a guy that regularly bowls through grown men like paper mache, and he sees the court with an elegance that belies his size.
It’ll be a privilege to watch these two battle for years to come.

Let’s Check In On the Final Pre-Vegas Summer League Scores
Darius Acuff Jr. and the Kings best Brayden Burries and the Bucks 95-89.
While Nate Ament’s debut will have to wait for Friday, Bucks fans got their first look at Brayden Burries, who struggled from the field but was able to get to the line and tallied 12 PTS in his first NBA action. It was Darius Acuff Jr. who had the last laugh, pouring on 22 PTS and the game sealing stepback jumper. While he’s scored well, Acuff only shot 33% from the field, but hey, it’s only summer league!
Nets dominate the Warriors Blue Squad 100-79.
Mikel Brown Jr. put on a solid debut of his own with 10 PTS and 4 AST and this NASTY dime. It was Egor Denim that shined the brightest though with 23 PTS, 5 REB, 8 AST. He continues to impress as he enters his sophomore season, scoring more 2 pointers in the Cali Classic than he did all of his rookie Summer League.
Heat stay hot against Warriors Gold 95-85.
Miami led 24-16 after one, then buried Golden State with a 35-13 second quarter to take a 30-point halftime lead. Ryan Conwell shot the cover off the ball with 26 PTS, but it was team effort for the Heat as they notched 24 assists on 34 made field goals.
Rough time for Golden State…
Lakers survive Spurs 88-84.
San Antonio controlled the first 25 minutes of this one, but the Lakers took over with a 27-16 third quarter and never trailed again despite a late Spurs push. Chris Mañon was the star with 24 PTS, 8 REB, 2 STL, and 3 BLK, while Arthur Kaluma added 16 off the bench.

Around the Association
Cavs, Donovan Mitchell agree to huge 4yr, $273M max extension to keep Mitchell in Cleveland
While Cavs fans wait restlessly for a LeBron James update, they can take a pause to celebrate that their current superstar already on the roster will remain a Cav for the long haul!
News broke Tuesday morning that Mitchell, who led Cleveland all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals just a few short months ago, will be extending his stay in Ohio with a new four year deal worth $273 million. 😳
Per Shams, Spida could have chosen to wait another year to negotiate an extension that would have included a fifth year worth up to $80 million, but the Cavs superstar opted to lock-in with the franchise on the very first day he was eligible. Talk about loyalty at its finest! 🤝
With Mitchell now locked up for the foreseeable future, Cleveland fans are now just waiting for the next domino to potentially fall….the possible return of King James. Even if LeBron chooses elsewhere, ‘The Land’ knows for certain number 45 is here to stay.

Kings waive DeMar DeRozan, former All-Star expected to have several suitors in Free Agency
The 2026 Free Agent class just got a little deeper.
After two seasons in Sactown, DeMar DeRozan’s time as a King has come to an end, and the six time All-Star will be seeking a new spot to hoop in for the 2026-27 NBA season.
Though Sacramento chose to waive DeRozan, this decision was not one-sided. Both parties agreed to part ways after the Kings explored several trade options for Demar, but no deal materialized.
Even at age 36, DeMar still has a lot of game left to give, coming off a season in which he averaged 18.4 points and over four assists per game on 50% from the floor. He is expected to have several suitors in free agency, including the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Who knows… maybe even a return to Toronto could be in order. The Raps already brought back one franchise legend this offseason in Kawhi Leonard, why not bring back another? 👀
