Contender - Denver Nuggets (51.5 Wins) āļø
You can sum up our opinion on the Nuggets in 2024-25 with, āif it aināt broke, donāt fix itā.
Yes, losing a role player as present and reliable as Kentavious Caldwell-Pope might take some adjustment, but this is a moment that the Nuggets have been preparing Christian Braun for since he was drafted. Plus, the core four of Jokic, Murray, MPJ, and Aaron Gordon are all back and ready to terrorize opposing defenses for another year.
Add in Russell Westbrook to give a little extra spark to the bench unit and other young guys like Peyton Watson seemingly ready for bigger roles, and we see a Denver squad that shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.
Middle of the Road - Houston Rockets (43.5 Wins) š
Houston, we do not have a problem. After putting together a respectable 41-41 record under new Head Coach Ime Udoka last season the Rockets seem primed to launch into orbit in 2024.
Not only does H-Town sport impact defenders practically every way you look, but theyāre filled with young players who seemed prime for a breakout at any moment. Whether itās Cam Whitmores and Jalen Greens explosive athleticism, Jabari Smith Jr and Tari Eason clamping things on the wing, or the Jokic-esque play of Alperen Sengun itās hard to think of a world where at least one of Houstonās prospects doesnāt take a significant step up.
And we havenāt even talked about the real x-factor, Amen Thompson. The 2023 4th overall pick was on fire to end the season, averaging 13-8-3 on 62% TS to go along with some of the best perimeter defense in the league. Itās no wonder that the Rockets went 16-7 during that stretchā¦.
Throwback to Amen Thompsonās best defensive game from last season:
5 Blocks
2 Steals
4-18 opponent FG
3 Forced TurnoversDominant.

Rebuilding - Charlotte Hornets (29.5 Wins) š
Donāt sleep on the Charlotte Hornets this season! Sure, last year was rough, but a lot of that can be chalked up to some seriously bad injury luck. Star point guard LaMelo Ball and promising young center Mark Williams both missed significant chunks of the season, which left the Hornets looking worse than they probably are.
And LaMeloās return isnāt just about his own productionāit could be a game-changer for the teamās young talent, especially second-year player Brandon Miller. Miller has an elite catch-and-shoot game, and pairing that with LaMeloās top-tier playmaking could take his offensive impact to the next level.
They also made some savvy moves at the trade deadline, adding players like Grant Williams, Tre Mann, and Vasilije Micic to bolster their bench. These additions give the Hornets enough depth and upside to compete on a nightly basis in a way they just couldnāt last year.
LaMelo Ball is back. š„š„

French Star Guerschon Yabusele seeking NBA return
It looks like Guerschon Yabusele is ready for a comeback tour in the NBA! After balling out at the Paris Olympics, Yabusele is reportedly looking to return to the leagueāand this time, he's got something to prove. Drafted 16th overall back in 2016, Yabusele didnāt quite stick during his first stint in the NBA, but that was then. Now, after showing off his skills on the international stage, heās ready for a redemption arc.
Yabusele was a beast for France in the Olympics, and his strong play has definitely caught some eyes. With a reported $2.5 million buyout from his Real Madrid contract on the table, the path is clear for a return to the NBA.
Yabusele stats for Real Madrid last season:
10 PPG on 57/46/87, 5 rebounds per game
He also beat the Mavs and Luka Doncic in the preseason last year with an impressive statline
