EuroBasket Quarter-finals: Turkey, Greece advance to Semi-Finals in dominating fashion

The stars showed OUT on Tuesday in Eurobasket.

Alperen Sengün kicked the morning off with an absolutely legendary performance in Turkey’s 91-77 win over Poland, becoming the youngest player to EVER drop a triple double in EuroBasket (19 PTS, 10 REB, 12 AST).

Oh, and he dropped multiple insane dimes, including this jaw-dropper:

The All-Star center took complete control and led Turkey to a spot in the Semi-Finals, where they’ll be matched up against Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Greece squad. 👀

Speaking of Giannis, he went offff in Greece’s 87-76 victory over Lithuania (29 PTS, 6 REB, 4 STL) to secure their spot in the semis. His brother, Kostas Antetokounmpo, also played a key role in the W from the defensive side of the ball, adding four blocks of his own.

Lithuania put up a solid fight in this one in large part due to the performance from Jonas Valanciūnas, (24 PTS, 15 REB) but it ultimately wasn’t enough.

If the NBA stars keep shining like this, we’re in store for one heck of a finish to this tournament! 🏀

Josh Giddey, Bulls agree to four-year, $100 million deal

Giddey up, Bulls fans! Josh Giddey is here to stay. 😎

On Tuesday, the Bulls and the 22 year old guard from Australia agreed to terms on a four-year, $100 million contract to keep the restricted free agent in the Windy City, per Shams.

After a career year in his inaugural campaign with the Bulls (14.6 PTS, 8.1 REBS, 7.2 AST, 38% 3PT), it had been rumored that Giddey and his camp were aiming to sign a deal in the $30 Million annually range, whereas the Bulls front office was hoping Giddey would settle for a deal closer to $20 Million per year.

By the looks of it, Giddey’s camp and the Bulls were able to meet in the middle. Nothing like a good compromise! 🤝

Following Zach Lavine’s departure via trade at last season’s deadline, the soon to be fifth-year guard was given the keys to the offense. To close the season, not only did his numbers soar (20.6 PTS, 10.7 REBS, 9.7 AST) but it coincided directly with winning, with Chicago ending the season with a 15-5 record, showing potential promise for this upcoming season in an eastern conference that’s projected to be up for grabs.

Looks like Bulls fans can expect more wild moments like this one in their near future: 🔥

Wayback Wednesday

If you were asked to name the top ten leading scorers of the 2010-11 NBA season, I’m sure you can think of a few names that come to mind right away… Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Durant… just to name a few.

In today’s edition of Wayback Wednesday, though, we’re highlighting a player that may not have come to mind…. the ninth-leading scorer from that season and one of the most underrated bucket-getters from the early 2010s- Kevin Martin! 🔥

K-Mart got a LOT of buckets throughout his 12-year NBA career. However, that fact alone doesn't make him stand out. What ultimately did make Martin’s game so memorable and unique was the way he got his buckets from a mechanical standpoint.

His jumpshot was unorthodox, starting his shooting motion with the ball at his hip rather than in line with his chest, like the vast majority of players do. Although his shot was one of one, he was able to master it to the point where it was essentially impossible to block. 😎

Check out this 50-point CLINIC he put on the Warriors back in 2009 to get a full glimpse at his distinctive scoring ability: 💰

Martin was no stranger to insane scoring outputs like these throughout his career. In seven of his twelve seasons, he averaged 20 points per game or higher, including a three year scoring peak that spanned from the 2007-08 season through the 2009-10 season (23.0 PPG, 40% 3PT, 4.8 3PA).

After being the go-to scoring option in Sacramento and Houston, Martin found himself as a core piece in one of the most influential trades of the 2010s- the James Harden to Houston trade. In this blockbuster deal, K-Mart transitioned into the role Harden was playing for OKC at the time, the sixth man role.

Although he came off the bench in all 77 games he played with the Thunder during the 2012-13 season, his scoring efficiency did not take a hit (45% FG, 43% 3PT) and was deemed a vital piece in the squad’s quest at a title- until Russell Westbrook suffered a season ending injury in round one of the 2013 playoffs. 😪

Simply put, when he was on, Kevin Martin was an effortless scoring machine. His individual accolades may not be as polished as some of his other peers that he played against in his era, but his game simply spoke for itself.
