Game Recaps
Wemby’s 39 helps Spurs overcome Ant’s career-high 55, beat Wolves 126-123
Last week, the Wolves came back from down 19 against the Spurs en route to a rousing 104-103 win. This week, San Antonio got their revenge.
In another instant classic between the two young West contenders, the Spurs got the best of Minnesota thanks in part to a big night from Victor Wembanyama (39 PTS, 9 REB, 2 BLK.) Minnesota was led by a career-high from their own superstar scorer, as Anthony Edwards racked up 55 PTS including 26 in the fourth quarter alone.
But in the late going, Wemby and De’Aaron Fox (25 PTS, 12 AST) converted enough looks from the charity stripe to salt the game away. And with 1.8 seconds to go, Wemby collected a clutch offensive rebound that put him on the line again, giving San Antonio the W. It’s a wild, wild Western Conference, and we’re loving every second of it.

Bam hits career-high six threes, Heat squeak by Thunder 122-120
Bam Adebayo can do a lot of things on a basketball court. Prior to Saturday night, hitting six triples in an NBA game had never been one of them.
But a career shooting night for the former Kentucky Wildcat laid the groundwork for Miami’s best win of the season. The Heat knocked off the reigning champs despite 39 PTS from SGA, with Bam notching 30 and Norman Powell adding 19. The Thunder shot 55% from the field and 45% from three as a team, but a few timely buckets from Miami, including a go-ahead Andrew Wiggins three with 31 seconds to go, ultimately made the difference.
The Thunder were also without Jalen Williams for much of the matchup after the All-NBA forward left the game in the second quarter with a hamstring strain. He’s been ruled out for Monday’s matchup with the Cavaliers, though OKC did not provide any additional details on the severity of the injury or potential return timetable.

Elsewhere around the NBA:
Kevin Durant moved to 6th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list in the Rockets’ 119-110 win over New Orleans, scoring 18 PTS to surpass Dirk Nowitzki. In honor of the former Mavs legend, Houston’s Jabari Smith put on a jump shooting clinic, hitting 7 of 13 looks from three and scoring a season-high 32 PTS.
Jamal Murray is a solid bet to make his first All-Star game this season, but arguably his finest performance of the year came Saturday night in a tight win over Washington. Murray scored 42 PTS on 62.5% shooting, including a personal 7-0 run to take the game from a 110-110 tie to a seven-point lead that Denver would not relinquish. Tim Hardaway Jr. added 30 while Peyton Watson notched 21, and the Nugs ultimately won 121-115.
Cleveland and Philly are neck-and-neck in the Eastern Conference standings, and their Friday night faceoff was just as tightly contested. After the Sixers took an 11-point lead with 8:47 remaining, the Cavs uncorked a 13-2 run to tie. Philly took a seven-point lead, and Cleveland punched back. In the end, a late slam by Evan Mobley put the Cavs ahead for good. Cleveland was also without star guard Darius Garland, but got a career-high 39 PTS from 2024 first-rounder Jalen Tyson (who’s also the brother of Jordan Tyson, a projected top pick in April’s NFL Draft.)
Basketball is constantly growing worldwide, and the league’s effort to exhibit games across the globe is another step in the right direction. On Sunday, the Grizzlies and Magic played in front of over 18,000 fans at The O2 in London, with Memphis prevailing 126-109. The Grizz were buoyed by a newly healthy Ja Morant, who led all scorers with 24 PTS after missing six games with a calf injury. He also downplayed recent trade rumors, calling himself a “very loyal guy.”

Record Retrospective
We’ve been missing Nikola Jokic’s greatness on the court, so in honor of the Joker, let’s look back at his record-breaking triple-double back in 2018.
Before Jokic was a three-time MVP and NBA champ, he was a second-rounder still looking to establish himself as a star at the NBA level. As a sophomore in 2017, he averaged 16.7 PPG and 9.8 RPG and finished second in Most Improved Player voting.
Then, in 2018, he took another leap, becoming one of the league’s most effective and versatile big men. Arguably his biggest — and quickest — statement came on February 15 in a matchup with Milwaukee. On that day, Jokic tipped things off with an offensive rebound and bucket on the first possession. The next: a dime to Will Barton. After that: a dish to Gary Harris. The rest was more of the same.
With 1:54 remaining in the second quarter, Jokic assisted on a Wilson Chandler three, giving him a triple-double in just 14 minutes and 33 seconds of playing time. It was the fastest trip-dub in NBA history, surpassing the 17-minute mark previously set by Jim Tucker in 1955 (it’s worth noting that on December 6, 2025, Jalen Johnson moved into second place with a triple-double in 16:44.)
Get well soon, Joker!
